Ombudsman Program

The Ombudsmen Program assists seniors and their families with nursing home, assisted living and personal care home issues.

Many times people appear to adjust very well to a change in their living environment and then begin to experience difficulties. The Ombudsman is available to assist the residents and their families in finding solutions and to understand what their rights are for their care. Ombudsmen are impartial mediators when they look into situations and they may also be called by staff at a facility with a request to investigate a situation. The goal of the Ombudsman is to assist in making the long-term care facility a comfortable place for the resident.

The Ombudsmen Program may also provide information regarding residents’ rights, local services agencies, Medicaid, Medicare and what to look for regarding signs of abuse, neglect or exploitation of residents. They will also provide information regarding long-term care issues and placement options.

A regional Ombudsman may be reached at 406.256.6568.
