Volunteering is often suggested as a useful activity for seniors in particular to be involved in — an activity that benefits both society and the seniors’ own health. Seniors have a great deal of knowledge and experience to share. And by volunteering, seniors become more engaged in their world and reap an array of health benefits.
There are many benefits to volunteering. To mention just a few…..volunteers experience improvements in mental health and physical functioning. By volunteering, older adults seem to delay the onset of age-related health problems. Also, volunteers have reported higher self-esteem and more connectivity with other people.
The Adult Resource Alliance offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities for seniors in particular through RSVP and for individuals of any age within the organization.
